This is an original still life, with the star being a vintage copper kettle with a wooden handle. I was drawn to the reflective quality of the metallic surface of the kettle, but was also challenged to keep in tact the integrity of its age and wear from being utlized for decades.

I have painted lemons a few times, and I'm always in awe of their texture and color. To depict them realizstically requires constraint, but also attention to fine detail, found in the seed and pulp exposed in the lemon slice in the foreground. 

When there is more than one item in my still life paintings, I will often choose them by ensuring that the first letter of each is consecutive in the alphabet. For this painting, Jars, Kettle, Lemons the consecutive letters are J, K, and L.

Size: Print 8" x 8" on 10" X 10" paper. There is a one inch white paper border around the artwork.
