Peaches, Quilt, Raspberries, Seven-Up

When there are more than one item in my still life paintings, I will often chose them by ensuring that the first letter of each is consecutive in the alphabet. For this painting, Peaches, Quilt, Raspberries, Seven-Up, the consecutive letters are P, Q, R and S. 

The inspiration for this still life was the Seven-Up crate. I love vintage lettering, and incorporate it as often as possible into my still lifes. The crate is a ubiquitous staple container for any home in the country, as it can transport fruits and veggies from garden to kitchen. The quilt was quite a challenge, with all the detail involved. The structure of the quilt creates interesting shadows when folded.
