Original oil painting on deep profile canvas. I handcrafted the wood float-style frame using reclaimed oak slats used in local Finger Lakes wine production.

This original oil painting captures a pair of worn Bobby Hull hockey skates, carrying the wear of long practices. Not everything meaningful looks extraordinary at first glance. These hockey skates are creased, scuffed and imperfect - but that’s exactly what drew me to them. They hold the quiet evidence of years of effort… the kind that often goes unseen. Worn leather, softened edges, and the many marks of use that suggest discipline, repetition, and a pursuit, carried over time. On the back, the signature of Bobby Hull, legendary Canadian NHL left-winger, known as the “Golden Jet” for his blonde hair, explosive speed and 100+ mph slapshot. Just below the signature is a small circle around “Pro OK’d”, which made me chuckle. Not “pro certified” or “pro accredited” or “pro sanctioned”, just… “Pro OK’d”, probably because… it fit.
