When there is more than one item in my still life paintings, I will often choose them by ensuring that the first letter of each is consecutive in the alphabet. For this painting, Fragrance, Gloss the consecutive letters are F and G. I couldn't pass up this bottle of vintage perfume at the antique shop; I love the font so much. One's sense of smell is directly connected to the limbic system of the brain, which is why scents can trigger such vivid memory recollection. Tweed perfume is described as a citrusy bouquet of bergamot, neroli, and orange, complimented by the delicate floralcy of violets, rose, jasmine, lilac and magnolia. The smell of lipstick always reminds me of my grandmother who would let me try some of hers occasionally, when I stayed with her in the summertime. I felt so grown up. I chose to arrange these items before a classic floral wallpaper.
